How Infrared Works

What is Infrared heat?

Infrared light is part of the Sun’s invisible spectrum. It is simply a form of energy that is directly transmitted onto objects because of its specific wavelength. It has nothing to do with ultraviolet light, which gives you sunburn and damages your skin.

Where conventional saunas transfer heat by circulating hot air, thus warm your body from your head, the infrared heat rays warm your body directly. This allows an in-depth heat in a more pleasant temperature of 30-40C, thus providing more health benefits and a highly enjoyable and comfortable environment.

Conventional saunas need high air temperatures to pull impurities from the body, but Physiotherm Infrared saunas can directly penetrate up to 45 mm inside the body. Impurities can be pushed out using lower and more comfortable temperatures.

How does it benefit us?

As the body temperature rises by infrared heat, perspiration occurs and blood circulation increases. The muscles and organs are stimulated and toxic waste (fat, heavy metals and other toxic materials) is removed from your body through perspiration.

One of Far Infrared light’s characteristics is the ability to easily penetrate human tissue. When this happens, it creates a natural resonance, which has many beneficial properties. Remember the last time you were sunbathing with sunscreen? Were you still hot? Of course you were because the sunscreen only stops the UV (Ultraviolet) light from hitting your skin.

Physiotherm Far Infrared penetrates your skin, giving you that wonderful natural warmth. You can be exposed to Far Infrared heat for hours and it will never cause your skin to burn. Infrared heat is completely healthy and safe for all living things.

Where is infrared technology used?

Infrared heat is well known for pain relief. Health professionals have used red infrared heat lamps for decades to treat muscle and joint problems. In hospital baby care units, incubators are often equipped with infrared heating systems to keep newborn babies warm.

What is Colour therapy?

Colour is both a wavelength and a particle. Different colours vibrate at different rates with slowest rate of vibration being red and the fastest being Violet. Therefore, different colours can have differing effects on the body as follows:

Red is a great colour to use to revitalize the body. It increases the body’s metabolic rate more the other colours and is therefore effective for improving circulation and maximizing calorie burning.

Orange symbolizes joy and happiness and helps raise the spirit. It’s a bright, warm source of encouragement for all aspects of life and is therefore fantastic for lifting depression and the ‘winter blues’.

Green is a cooling, sedating colour. It also assists the immune system and therefore is a great colour to use if you feel the flu coming on

Blue is a cool colour that has a claming effect. This is the colour to use for those with sleep disturbances or if you are using you cabin later in the day.

Violet promotes awareness and consciousness. It is the colour for neutralizing emotional wounds and for spiritual growth.

What is safe Sunlight therapy?

Light gives life. We experience this every spring when the days become longer and the warming sunlight awakens nature. People too naturally become more joyful. We can appreciate the influence of sunlight on humans by looking at the differences between the people of northern and southern Europe. Statistically there is more depression in the northern parts of Europe particularly in the long dark winter months.

Physiotherms Safe Sunlight therapy has an effect similar to that of natural sunlight for combating Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) in the winter months. UV light is limited to DIN 5036, so that no sunburn occurs. It can lead to the production of vital vitamin D, strengthening resistance to disease and acting as a stimulator of the self-healing ability of the body.

What is Aromatherapy?

Aromatherapy has been practiced in one form or another since the beginning of civilization. It is the art and science of using oils, extracted from aromatic plants to enhance health and beauty. Apart from the physical benefits, essential oils can have subtle effects on the mind and emotions, stimulating positive results.

When you inhale essential oils, they enter into your respiratory system. In your lungs, molecules of essential oils attach themselves to oxygen molecules and are carried into your blood stream and circulated to every cell in your body including the brain. Within the cells, essential oils can activate the body’s ability to heal it’s self and to improve health.

What is Music or Sound therapy?

Sound has powerful possibilities to exert positive influences on body and mind. Correctly selected, music for relaxation and meditation can help make us cheerful, more balanced and reduce stress.
